Is the treatment painful?

You will feel a sensation of heat, burning and tingling, which can sometimes be painful. Thanks to the effect of the anesthetic cream applied in the office before treatment, and the application of cold air during treatment, an adequate tolerance of the procedure is achieved. In some patients who tolerate the treatment poorly, certain nerves in the face can also be anesthetized to achieve better tolerance.

How will my skin be after the treatment?

There may be noticeable swelling with crusting during the first 24-48 hours, which gradually disappears over 3-5 days. The skin may remain tanned for a few additional days. This is part of the normal healing process. You may also notice that your skin is slightly rough.

To avoid or minimize the side effects of this treatment, it is advisable to sleep the first two days with your head slightly raised (with two pillows for example) and to apply creams with a barrier effect.

After each fractional CO2 laser session, it is essential to protect the treated area from sunlight.

What advantages does it have over other acne scar treatments?

• Effective and rapid recovery (between 5-7 days).
• Quick return to work activities.
• Reduces the risk of infection, scarring, redness or post-laser spots.
• Safe and comfortable treatment for the patient.

What do I need to undergo the procedure?

A prior evaluation by a dermatologist is required, as he or she will determine if you are a candidate for the treatment. A topical anesthetic will also be applied for the treatment.

What care should be taken after treatment?

Immediately after treatment, a “regenerative cream” will be required, as well as constant and scheduled photoprotection.

Exposure to the sun or direct white light should be avoided, especially during the first two days. After that, exposure may only be achieved with physical protection (wide-brimmed hat) or sunscreen, but sun exposure at the beach should be avoided for at least one month.
You should avoid removing the scabs, as this can expose the new skin to infections. Likewise, fourteen days after the procedure, you should go for a check-up with the dermatologist again.
